Need help? Stark County Community Action Agency just might have your back!

(Massillon): With the poverty rate at almost 11% in Massillon, it's not about demographics or population breakdowns. It's about people! For whatever reason, there are people in our community that need help. They may be your friends, or your neighbors. You may not know about their needs because they keep it private. This article is for them.

Whether you need help with your electric or gas bill, or maybe you need food assistance or help with child care. Whatever that need may be; The Stark County Community Action Agency is a phone call away.

With the onset of Winter; the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) may be a program that you or a loved one is eligible for. To meet that eligibility; your household income would have to be at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. To find out what those guidelines are; go to their website at: www.sccaa.org

Another program provided by SCCAA is their Head Start program for children. This program is designed to provide early childhood readiness for children preparing for kindergarten.

Other programs provided by SCCAA includes a youth work program that provides Summer job opportunities for youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 24.
